pillow infidelity

let me start by sharing with you
the only safe
unmoved or relocated pillow
in my home

i don't know about you
but when i move one thing
replacement of multiple other things
soon follows

such has been the case
around here
the last several weeks

my latest crush is pillows
linen pillows
burlap pillows
vintage french pillows
antique linen pillows
soft scrunchy pillows

which reminds me~~
one of my daughter's friends walked in the other day
& said
"wow, what a white room"
apparantly she repeated that observation multiple times
as she visited our home
& it didn't sound like she was a fan

clearly
the poor child
doesn't appreciate the neutral movement
that , dare i say, is taking over my home decorating
bless her heart

of course my more critical daughter
was mighty quick to point out
" see mom, i told you its too white in here"

but then she fessed up
that her bestie
loved our "wow, what a white home" home

everyone's a critic right?

oh

& by the way , i have a red sofa for crying out loud

its not "all white" 'round here....sheesh

back on track

as you can see
the pillow movement took on a life of its own
sorta like american idol
gotta wait til the 'next week' to find out
who was gonna get moved out
it all started in the bedroom
doesn't it always?
im sorry
that was sorta inappropriate

my bff kristin & her resident marthastewartmom
took two of my mother in law's vintage linen towels
( they can do anything)
& made these precious precious pillows
i love these little pretties
but had to break it to the big guy
they are not for laying on, squisshing, or propping upon
duh

then i tried to decide if a ginormous pillow
appropriate for squishing & laying upon
would be better suited for the bed

or this one?

being the funny guy that he is
he often times sends photo texts to me while i'm at work
to "make sure" he made the bed correctly
& that the pillow placement meets approval

har har

the latest score are these finds from Restoration Hardware

i think i might of grabbed the last few
which only means multiple other Atlanta housewives
are now facing the same potential pillow infidelity i am

& being all about symmetry
the next question was
2 or 3?

the next morning the sun was shining
& the birdies were chirping
so i took that as affirmation that all 3 would remain

closure
i love that

well
i think today
every pillow has its place

& now i can get on to other
major decisions
such as
what stays on the kitchen counter
& what's gonna go

clearly i need to get a life

{{ps~ just in case you're curious~~

the pillows are from petit coterie,

mimi charmante, lola b's boutique,

lettered threads

restoration hardware, jeanne d'arc living,

the beautiful life, & dreams of france}}

deleted scenes

the previous post
was pretty loaded with the good things that happened last week
wonderful blessings that were much fun to celebrate

but in an effort to keep it real
i figured i'd share some of the events
deleted scenes, if you will
that didn't make the cut
for the original post

remember in Steel Magnolias, when Sally Field realizes her hair looks horrid?

& i quote
M'Lynn as she's looking at herself in Truvy's compact mirror

"Oh my God Shelby was right,

my hair does look like a brown football helmet!" & then continues to sob

well that was the same moment for me

when after eating my birthday breakfast with my girlfriend

who i finally had my photo taken with

all in honor of blog post, mind you

( the photo that is)

i realized my hair looked awful

AWFUL
heather? why didn't you tell me? oh dear friend o' mine!

nothing like realizing you actually look worse than you originally thought

so the perfect birthday continues to roll on...

while on the phone chatting with my bestie kristin

& backing out of my driveway

i hear a thud

i'll be dadblasted

i ran over a squirrel!!!!!

& as if that weren't enough

i realized that it wasn't completely dead

oh my word!!!

so i did what any of you would have done

i closed my eyes

& ran over it again!

eeekkkkkkkk

i killed an friggin animal

ON MY BIRTHDAY

for pete's sake

what kinda luck is that?

kristin mind you
is cracking up
cracking up!

so i tell her
maybe i should call & see if dan can come home & move it
i mean
i can't have that poor
albeit
squished squirrel
looking at me
all day on my birthday
right?

glory be
i came home from my little errand
& squirrely
was gone!!

i dont' know how or why
but thank goodness

well the highlight of my glorious birthday week

was getting pulled over by a cop

for speeding

"i had to get to kickboxing, mr policeman

especially after seeing that dreadful birthday breakfast photo of myself "

of course i was an easy target

being that everyone else in Atlanta

was enjoying a perfect spring break on the Gulf Coast!!

thankyouverymuch

oh wait, there's more
we head over to one of my favorite homes in the city
for a photoshoot
only to have my rockin zoom lens
freeze up
& begin what i assume is the beginning of a slow death

sigh

&
the AMAZING Good Friday concert we attended...
well
little bit felt horrible the majority of the evening
with one of her migraines
& spent the majority of the evening feeling completely miserable

for all my facebook friends that remember
the flooded kitchen from a few weeks ago
well
the fridge
is still leaking
fantastic

but
lets end on a up swing

please tell me you saw that tender embrace
when Phil Mickelson won the Masters
&
then went on to find his wife Amy
who's been battling breast cancer
in the crowd
having been to sick to attend
earlier in the week

i sat there all choked up watching this man
who clearly loves his wife
win the Masters

i love to see the good guy win

ummmmm......
not ....the other guy

so
in the famous words of hannah montana
"everybody has those days"
hope you enjoyed mine!
oh & ps....if any of you are thinking of turning me into the PETA folks....please know part one was all an accident, part two was all about putting the poor guy out of his misery....i do apologize mr. squirrel, but if you'd make up your mind which side of the street you plan to stay on, we wouldn't have had such an unfortunate series of events...

spring break , so far.....

spring in atlanta will take your breath away
but if you blink, you might just miss it
the weather is gorgeous & the flowers are amazing
it seems though, that our springs get shorter each year
i think we hit 90 degrees yesterday

we've had many memory makers this past week~~

first off i'd love to recommend a sweetheart of a movie
caroline & i just watched a precious tender movie this morning
Hachi
a true story about the loyalty between
a dog & his person
i'm a wreck
if you know me, dogs , especially big dogs tug fiercely on my heartstrings

my birthday was april fools day, which is sorta a waste being that i'm a terrible joker
& can never
ever
remember a punch line
anyways i woke to a gorgeous day, beautiful tulips from my sweetie
probably the most beautiful words a friend has ever spoken to me

{i told you that your love language was the spoken word!--i thank you sweet kristin from the bottom of my heart...you blessed me big , today!}

breakfast with one of my favorite friends
lunch with my dad
& dinner at one of my fave outdoor pizza spots

friday night we attended the Good Friday Concert
at a beautiful new outdoor amphitheatre
with 12,000 folks
just shy of $200,000 were raised that night
all going to help different ministry efforts in Haiti
WOW!

i don't even have the words to describe how this service blew me away
totally touched my heart as we contemplated why we celebrate Easter
& glory of our risen Lord
if that concert sounded anything sorta like Heaven will sound....
we're in for amazing worship my friends!
a.m.a.z.i.n.g

last week, caroline asked Jesus into her heart!!!!!!!

here she is texting her sunday school teacher minutes later to give her the scoop

Easter Sunday
Dan baptized her
he has baptized each of the girls
i wish i could tell you how much my heart swells
watching this tender man
bless the girls
they truly see the unconditional love of Jesus
walked out , by their own daddy

the day prior
dan & i celebrated our 11 year anniversary
this sweet man loves well
he loves selflessly & endlessly
& with a loyalty that humbles me daily

allofmylove2you dmk

savannah (my oldest) is gone for the week
but left the most heartfelt note for caroline to open up
just before she was baptized
i love to see my girls love on each other like that
we miss you sweet girl but i am so thankful that caroline has such
an awesome big sissy!
sweet emily left for her first mission trip
one of the places she will minister to is a home for unwed teenage mom's
i pray she sees Jesus this week
& that she is drawn even closer to Him

lastly, i'd love to share some glimpses of spring
around our home....
this will be part 1
as i've been photographing everything i can
& playing with textures
but this post has already reached epic proportions....

(my birthday treat to myself, twill shades from jacki--perfection!)

{{i also want to thank you for many of you who continue to ask how caroline is doing....she is still having tests run by the G.I. specialist but seems to be feeling better.

i have been terrible about posting regularly

& even more terrible at touching base with each of you~~please forgive...& i'll be in touch, pinkie promise

thank you again.....you are a blessing}}
