Merry Christmas

i have a few more images to share

of Christmas around our home.

I had several emails regarding the bottle brush trees.

most of them i've collected over the last several years & came from various places.

many , like the ones below,

are by cody foster.

i've purchased several through bayberry cove & some through christmas traditions.

the ones below are my most favorite.

( my aunt & uncle visited...not i.  maybe one day)

funny thing. i tried to sell this wreath at my garage sale this summer.

but i guess christmas in july wasn't working.

i really had wanted to make another with no greenery showing

as this one gets on my nerves.

but i went ahead & used it again this year.

found a fun glittered card & stuck it in there too

the ginormous  red lantern was an after christmas score from pottery barn.

one of my favorite bible study memories

was when we had an ornament swap.

imagine my surprise when i opened this baby!

( i think the ornament i brought was from target. wow)

i've collected pieces from mackenzie childs for years

but their ornaments are a little  luxury.

i love it so much i'm sorta afraid to put it on the tree.

in case it falls ,you know.

we're pretty simple & neutral downstairs

but all party upstairs.

 a handmade (painfully i'm certain) pinecone wreath by a precious friend of mine

about 15 years ago that i treasure & still have not broken!

my sweet madison's room is quite full this year with some extra furniture.

i talked her into, i mean encouraged her to hold off on the full size tree we normally put up.

i had a little extra surprise for her that hopefully will come to fruition soon

that i thought my 'make up' for it.

she's quite the trooper.

i sprayed a bay leaf wreath i've had for quite some time silver & i love how it turned out.

red is my favorite color. even though downstairs is mostly whites & creamy tones,

i have a little red in each room.

alrighty....remember i told you how my girls have given me some grief regarding the 'chosen style' of decor? well , the more i bring it up, the more they laugh & add some more comments.

one of the funnest things about my blog is having my girls occasionally leave comments.

i LOVE the gigantic twinkling tree,
the mantel overflowing with greenery and poinsettias,
the vintage ornaments outside that must be brought in daily so they won't freeze & shatter,
the little elf on the shelf,
the nativity scene you walk by,
the ginormous bowl of ornaments to be moved so you can serve the holiday meal,
& the most famous the Christmas tree in a galvanized bucket.

christmas at our home , part 1

i have to tell you,

there appears to be a small percentage of inhabitants in my home

who believe i haven't decorated 'enough' for Christmas.

it's ok

i'm trying to not go the passive aggressive

emotional manipulation route

however, as i upload a couple dozen images from around our home

part one, nonetheless

it's hard for me to side with them.

i think they enjoy seeing me get my feathers ruffled a bit

& try to defend myself

with sayings such as

"what's the gigantic twinkling tree then?"

"& the mantel is overflowing with greenery and poinsettias"

& "who has vintage ornaments outside, that must be brought in daily so they won't freeze & shatter"

"where's the little elf on the shelf this morning"

"excuse me while i walk by the nativity scene"

for crying out loud"

seriously...it's all good.

the more they enjoy their comments

the more laughter there is in our home

this week

we are absolutely thrilled.  savannah was accepted to University of Georgia!!

for those of you who aren't local, UGA has an early action application time, which is tougher to get approved for but Savannah found out friday that she's in!!

UGA has everything she wants

big SEC football playing school

greek life

great college town

& rigorous academics

(& dan and i are thrilled as it's only an  hour away!)

She is also applying to Auburn, UNC and probably an ivy--just to see)

she also celebrated her bestie's 18th birthday.

they had a weekend full of fun which included the midnight showing of rocky horror.

actually, is there any other time to see rocky horror?

& yes i allowed her to go. judge me.

i've looked for some new cowboy boots for a while. found a pair this week that i am completely in love with and might just be seen wearing on a daily basis.

 have also looked for a fun holder for blankets in the living room. ran across this one at restoration hardware.

the taller one is also quite fun but looked a little more hamperish to me. shout out to the rh employee that had the christmas spirit and sold me what was to be a catalog only item displayed in the store.

little elf , affectionately known as little nick at our home

is mischievous and visits different places all over our home while we sleep. little bit wakes up each morning & hunts that little fella down.

during the day however, she wraps him in her favorite snuggly scarf & he sleeps by her christmas tree.

 went to tuck her in the other night & opened her closet to turn out the light & this is what i saw...

baby girl has a plan.

outfits all matched up for the week ahead & even little post it notes on future wardrobe choices.

i'm giving a varsity effort on keeping things calm around here.

almost done shopping

& even finished some wrapping.

completely enjoying listening to christmas music.

mercy me holiday mix as well as chris tomlin holiday mix on pandora are my current faves.

however if i never hear josh groban's 'o holy night', that will be aok by me.

sorry josh, never been a fan.
