my little woodland pixie & some daydreaming....

often times after the girls have left for school
i go into each of their bedrooms.
because i'm weird & compulsive
my main objective is to tidy things up
make the beds....'magazine' worthy.
maybe tidy a drawer or two.
please tell me you do the same

well anyway
while i'm in there
i take a moment to pray for them
for their specific needs for that day

its a great time
that keeps me accountable in just the little simple daily prayers for them

but the other day
i just sat down in one of their rooms
& thought about that child's particular future.

i really try to keep the big picture in mind
to remind myself
they are not really mine.

they are gifts
chosen specifically for me
& they are with me
for a twinkling.

to raise to disciple to love to teach to encourage
but then i give them back

i give them back to Him
to will in them the life He has planned for them.

as i sat in her room
i wondered what her future would be.
will she grow to lead a quiet simple life
or be "known" , if you will.
will she wear stilettos & work in the corporate frenzy
or spend her days planning menus & packing lunches.
will she marry a marvelous man?

whatever her future holds
i pray that she is strong & courageous
that she is surrounded by friends that love her
that she knows how deep & how wide His love for her is

that she marries a man who will treasure & cherish her

that whatever path she chooses
she chooses with her whole heart

& that the road back to home
is always a short one

these images were actually from last year.
my little quiet time moment was in one of my older daughter's rooms
but since little bit is always a great photo subject for me
i wanted to share these :)

What beautiful thoughts! Isn't it funny that when they are "little" our days are so full of "daily" things {diapers, meals, baths, naps, carpools, etc} but as they get older our thoughts become so much broader?! And those "daily" things become so much less important! I often think that because of this, I am a much better parent to my younger ones than i was to the older ones...Not so much Majoring on the Minors!

yes, i do the same.
even though i have only "known" you a short time. i am so thankful to Him, that i get to share this road of being a mother, in blog land, along with you.
beautiful, my friend.

LOVE these photos of your darling little woodland pixie! I always enjoy seeing what jewels Caroline has on :).

No so easy being in 'control' with our older children .. especially once the leave the nest for college .. but I too am in constant prayer for my boys...praying for their well being, safety, for them to make wise choices, and for them to meet wonderful. faith-filled girls (you know, southern dolls!) ;). Never too soon to pray for their future wives!
I have a wonderful book that was given to me years ago ..
'Praying the Bible for you Children' .. love it so and it is marked and highlighted - lots!

I just love your blog! It is not often I find someone so like myself...I feel as though we would be such good friends if we met as your thoughts/taste/interests are so similar! Your photography is gorgeous and yes...I do the same....fluff the beds and walk around the house rearranging for that "magazine worthy" look. ;)My daughter is 10 now and I feel in this last year I have for the first time I really have thought and prayed about what the future holds. Our sweet children just grow up way too fast!

What a beautiful post Paige. I am a father of two wonderful, caring, awesome sons. When they were growing up I did the same thing, I worked nights and my wife worked days at that time, so that our boys would not have to be in day care. Now they are grown 26, and 24. I still look at their pictures in our home on the walls, and tables and stop and pray for them, their lives, their wives and their unborn children. We as parents never stop loving, worrying and praying for our children no matter what age they become. And life sometimes brings heart ache to our children and we want to comfort them like when they were little, but we can't. Our youngest son is going through a divorce, heart wrenching for my wife and I, this is the first divorce we have gone through, my wife's grandparents were married for 63 years, her parents just celebrated their 56th, my parents were married for 40 when my mom died, and we have been married for 31 years. So this is new territory for us, we will get through it, we will learn how to help our son, and yes we will learn how to help our soon to be ex daughter in law. Through love, prayer and GRACE......... so thank you Paige for reminding me about two little blonde headed boys that I prayed for as they were growing up and continue to pray for. The love of a parent is never ending....

Thoughtful and touching! I wasn't blessed to have children and so it is wonderful that you care so much for yours. Too often I see people take this blessing for granted.
Bless you....

oh, Paige. I don't ever go in my kids' rooms after they're at school, but what a good idea. I am going to start.

God help me not to get sucked into my daughter's mess!!

yep. I do the same thing. Everyday I swear that I'm gonna stop going in and "re-making" their beds," but everyday...I keep doing it.

love these pics of your smallest one...just beautiful.

may the prayers of your heart for all those girls be answered immeasurably more than even what you've imagined to ask for their lives....YES and AMEN..in JESUS' name!

Oh my gosh. Lil' Bit's hair is adorable.
I swear she could just make someone's day with that smile of hers too. It's a sweet, but mischievious grin. Love it.

GREAT IDEA! I never tidy in their rooms...there's too much to do around here.

But I do love the idea of going in their rooms and praying for them.

I do say a prayer for Numero Uno everytime I pass his elementary school.

Definitely want to be more intentional in praying for my little ones.

Love your blog!

Paige - oh I had to just say when I read the line 'they are not mine' I got this crazy welling up of tears as you are so right. The simplicity of that statement just floors me. That is motherhood - completely and utterly. Lou x

I love that you do that. I do straighten Em's room but mostly it's because I can see it from the family room in this house and that drives me nuts. I hardly go upstairs so I rarely see Maddie's. Trust me when I say that is best for my mental health.

Yes, I can tell
you that I do
the same thing.
I will pause
in their room
and take in the
"them-ness" of
it, and say a little
prayer. Lovely
images of your wee one!
xx Suzanne
PS: Congrats on your
photo shoot; darling
pictures.

Great Post Paige :) I love the idea of tidying their rooms and praying for them, thanks for sharing!

There is an Allison Krauss song that explains your heart so perfectly right now...its called: SO I give you to His Heart. I dont know if she is really your style or not, but I think you will appreciate the message!
