my summer reading list

we're headed out today to one of my favorite little communities here in Atlanta to attend their annual book fair book.
so thought i'd share a few of the books i read this past summer.

i'm just starting
& i'm totally fired up about this book!!
see the bloom tab on my sidebar if you'd like to join this online book club
chapter one review will begin Sept 13th

also just picked up "The Unexpected Adventure"
& can't wait to dive into it!

When Crickets Cry... hands down my favorite this summer!
warning... definately a tear jerker

patti callahan henry

a local author who i'm hoping i might even spot at the fair.

love everything she does
this one is probably my favorite so far, but all of these were great books & easy reads

& yes, the cover of between the tides-love it

a winner but not as great as Firefly Lane which i've raved on in the past

tried it but knew i couldn't finish

young mom with cancer...too much for me.

& yes i flipped to the ending

but still knew i couldn't do it

will try another since i hear she's a great author

for crying out loud

enough with the vampires & werewolves already

it pains me to tell you that i actually did enjoy twilight

trudged through new moon

but eclipse...over it, didnt' even finish

wanted to give jodi another try

but quickly could tell where this was headed & knew i wasn't going to enjoy the controversy

didn't finish this one either

forgot to upload The Wide Smiles of Girls--have to rate that one fair at best.
here are a few that are waiting on the shelf....

such a stinkin cute cover that i'm certain will be a cutie

is this for teens?

am i in the target audience for this one? we'll see...

next one to read~

have heard great things about this

destined to be a winner

its hard to believe that summer officially closes out this weekend.
earlier this week Savannah was showing me the outfit she planned to wear to school the next day. She told me she just had to get her favorite white pants in the line up one more time.
huh?
mom, seriously, surely you know i can't wear white after labor day.
oh the fashion pressures....
enjoy your holiday weekend with family
read a great book
wear white
& please please let me know if there are any books that i must read!

I might have to add a few of these to mu list!

My must read of the summer is American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld. It was a wonderful fictional biography of a first lady...so good!

Add Summer House by Nancy Thayer to your list and The Girls From Ames. Both great. I am now reading The Wide Smiles of Girls that I saw on your blog a couple weeks ago. I love it!

Thanks for the reviews Paige.
I always love reading and will have to add a few of these to my request list at the library.

Hope all is well with your family

Paige - you know what a reader I am!
I have read & loved all of Charles Martin's books.
I think Flyfire Lane and Crazy Love are next up for me (I am currently reading That Old Cape Magic, which isn't doing it for me!)
I gave up on J. Picoult's books a few years back - just not for me, or the Eclipse series.
Loved Sweet Potato Society and Olive K was good too.

Thanks for all the new book ideas. I'll have to copy this list. I'm in the middle of "The Shack". Have you read that?? I can't get into it at all. Everyone says how good it is and I'm just scratching my head. I have to make myself read it.

Thanks too for your sweet comments this week. I just love hearing from you!

I am reading Twilight now and have had a hard time getting into it. I think I'm finally there but am not sure yet. I just got 'A summer affair' by Elin Hilderbrand. I will start it after Twilight. I have heard she is a good author.

I saw someone mentioned 'The Girls from Ames' - I read it earlier this summer and it's really good.

Love getting your book list -- am going to have to check some of those out! Am currently reading an Elizabeth Berg book and it's keeping me up at night, wanting to finish it.

I wore white pants the other day just so that I could get them in once more before Labor Day too! :)
Have a great week!

Well sweetie you've been very busy this summer just reading away! I could so use a good recommendation on a book. The last 2 that I attempted to read were such duds that I haven't been back for another book in months! I'll give some of these a try, especially the ones with pretty covers :)

WOW....you did some serious reading!!! I just picked up Crazy Love and I can't wait to start the study. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for sharing - I'm currently reading "True Colors" because I loved Firefly Lane so much. And I have read Barefoot Summer. I am definitely adding some of these to my "fall" reading list!

Oh man, I loved Firefly Lane and Barefoot. Did you read the Beach Club by Elin Hilderbrand yet? I loved that one too. I just finished the Middle Place and loved that.

I'm brand new to blogging, but I've been reading yours for a little while.. what an inspiration! Love it!

I had to say, Crazy Love is one of the best books I've ever read! Very convicting and heart changing.

Also, I'm sad you haven't liked Jodi Picoult - she's one of my favorites! Some books ARE kind of dark though, and Change of Heart was one of them. Personal favorite: Nineteen Minutes.

Twilight... ok. New Moon... losing interest. Eclipse.... loved it. The middle to the end is the best part and will get you re-hooked. Thanks for the new reading tips. I need to expand my horizons past vampires! :)

I always love your book lists!!!
I have read "Pretty in Plaid" and I'll admit that I bought it for the cover. (how pathetic) But I laughed outloud as I read it.
I felt like she was channeling parts of my childhood and it made me laugh. Nothing to stretch my mind or make me grow as a person but for a fun, easy read, I'd highly recommend it when you need a laugh.
I can't wait to go out and try some of your other suggestions.
