6.30.09

Today is the one year anniversary of Dan's mom's passing. We are headed out to the graveside to spend some time there & love on Dan's daddy. That sweet man, he's become so frail this last year. It's as if he aged 10 years in 1.
He kisses their picture at his bedside each night before he closes his eyes. Oh, I pray that Dan & I will leave that same loyal loving legacy for our girls to follow.
God speed grammy

On a lighter note, I'm so pumped to be running in the Peachtree Road Race again this year!!
On July 4th, I'll run 6.2 miles with about 60,000 of my closest friends & then sport the highly coveted t-shirt at the fireworks display that night!
Sadly, doggies aren't allowed so my faithful daily running partner will be do this while i'm pounding the pavement!
(& yes, he is modeling his sporty new Seaside collar)

Another 4th of July tradition I hope we'll enjoy this weekend is the Sunflower Festival. For all you local gals, you should brave the heat & head over.....the sunflowers are spectacular.

& you can fill one of these buckets with as many sunflowers as you can for $5!

The last several years some of my favorite little photo moments have been outside in the sunflowers. Last year my art teacher helped me paint this oil canvas of caroline.
The original photo inspiration is shown below. I would love to find a huge rusty crusty old barn wood frame for it. It's 16x20 if any of ya'll have a lead for me I'd appreciate it!

ps-over the years caroline had about 3 pair of red ropers, hence the plethora of red cowgirl boot photos :)

We had a wonderful week at the beach....super hot, but wonderful. You'll be so tired of my beach pictures by the end of summer. I'm completely embarassed to tell you how many I took....maybe I need therapy!
Hope each of you has a spectacular 4th!

Where to begin...first of all my heart goes out to you today. I know all too well what a painful year you've had. My honey lost his dad a little over a year ago and it's really weird and hard and for his mom...well my heart just breaks for her.

So glad you had a great vacation. I really missed you while you were gone. Your family is just gorgeous. Love that picture on the beach.

The painting you did was absolutely breathtaking. I am soooo impressed. I didn't know you were an artist.

Anyway have a great week and looking forward to more pics.

I ran the "Peachtree" back in 1989 and I STILL have the T-shirt to prove it. I've moved it to 5 states over the years. My husband doesn't quite understand why I want to keep it...wait until he hears that I am thinking of framing it. :)
Have a great time with 60,000 of your closest friends!!

Your painting is just lovely and the frame you are looking for would be perfect! I have that type frame - I got it from (of all places) Michael's.

Welcome home, Paige...so glad that your family had a wonderful time!! My heart and thoughts are with you, Dan, his father and the girls as you remember a wonderful woman this day. It often comes with tears, but honoring her with sweet memories is a wonderful way to pay tribute. Blessings to you all. : )

I saw the race on CNN as I was running at the gym (it's 104 where I live on the west coast-too hot for me to run outside) and I immediately thought of you:). Hope you had a wonderful time!

It is always a pleasure getting caught up on your family's goings-on...

Good luck with your run. SIx miles is no easy feat...all I've ever done is three, and that is all I ever wnat to do!!

You have serious artistic qualities, Paige. I didn't know you painted so well. That is gorgeous, and of your sweet baby, no less!

I hope you are having a great summer and enjoying the beach. We are finally seeing a break from almost four weeks of rainy weather, I kid you not. Consider yourself lucky!! :)

Cheers,
Linda
