i'm not sure what my problem is.
three months ago i ran a half marathon.
seems like ever since, i go out & run 2-3 miles
& need to stop and walk a couple times.
what?
i've been running for over 30 years
& a 2-3 miler is a regular daily jog
which does not involve stopping and walking.
(until lately)
same thing at kickboxing.
for years i can hold my own in there
yet the last few classes i find myself looking at the clock
wondering if we're almost done.
most days the thought of a nap seems heavenly.
while i seldom do it, i'd love to. daily.
i go to bed at my regular time and sleep about 7-8 hours.
wake up feeling fine
it just seems my energy level, especially with exercise
feels like it's at an all time low.
i'm completely disgusted with my current weight.
but i'll save ya'll from that rant.
so last night i decided to put my game face on
and get serious.
after working out in the morning, i went back out and had a good run last night
and thought up my plan.
i actually didn't feel like i needed a nap yesterday
which i explained to dan coulda been because i was shopping at target
during my usual crash time.
i'm going to make some minor diet changes
& really take my work outs up a notch.
adding two a days ( i feel like a football player),
more frequent ( much overdo) visits to my gym,
weights class, running, walking
& climbing the local mountain
to the mix.
apparently increase my shopping too.
i've set a weight loss goal.
when i get half way there
i'm going to splurge and purchase the free people top
i've been dying for.
hopefully in a size smaller than i would have.
my girlfriend kasey has totally
redefined herself as a workout machine
& lost weight and looks insanely great!
while i wish i could have her whip me into shape over in hawaii
i'll do what i can here in on the mainland.
i'm inspired
& i'm putting it out here to keep me accountable.
i've done this before
i can do it again.
alrighty, gotta run....

I promise your outlook on food will be changed forever. Its a lifestyle change that i have had to make slowly, but the rewards are so worth it! In the book, she also talks a lot about supplements that help you during/after your workouts, ones that give you more energy, help you sleep better, etc. (i have no offiliation with her....just came across her blog one day and was totally sold!) Thank you for sharing your life with a girl like me! Your inspiration is wide, deep, and far-reaching!

ReplyDeleteSounds like several of us are in the same boat. I, too, am disgusted with my weight and am making lifestyle (diet) changes and moving more (some exercise, but mostly walking). I had 30 pounds (ideally) to lose and I've lost 7.5 so far. I'm encouraged by your post! You can do it, Paige!!
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you on this. I feel like I'm in some "phase" that I can't seem to shake where I have no energy or desire to work out, when I used to be fidgety until I finally got a workout in at the end of the day. Add a new dog in to the mix that seems to require all the extra time that I didn't have to begin with, and workouts just for me get lost in the mix. Perhaps I shall join you on the "just do it" plan today :)

ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to work out in 9 months and I've let 7 pounds slip up on me.
I'm SICK over it.
I started eating better yesterday and I'm determined to start slowly working out again.....praying to God the pain doesn't return!

thanks for sharing - I too came to a low point and was totally disgusted with myself. Am now visiting the gym more and making better food choices. It's hard work, but once you hit the low - you can only go up! Keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteWell, I say it's probably the humidity slowing you down -- when it's humid here and I try to run, I feel like my legs are made of lead. Good luck with your plan and your goals. Being healthy is number one as you well know. And sweetie -- you look fabulous!! Hope you soon feel as great as you look!
ReplyDeleteI love your determination, but can I say be careful without sounding like too much of a mom? My husband sees so many patients who overdo it, then can't run at all. Talk about a huge hit to your plans. What you described about suddenly needing naps makes me think there might be something else going on (thyroid, adrenals, hormones, even a food sensitivity...like gluten).

But it feels great to have my clothes fit the way I want them to fit.

Hi there sweet Paige! I'm right there with you! About to hit the big 4-0 in a couple of weeks and decided that I needed to get down to my goal weight. So I've been really watching what I eat...now it's time to add back in the work outs! Have a half-way goal in mind and when I reach that I get a pair of colored skinny jeans...once I reach goal...hmmm...I'll have to find another fun clothing item to purchase. Lol! ReplyDeletePaige, I feel your pain. I put on quite a few pounds last year. I'm having serious back problems now and my the only exercise I'm allowed to do is physical therapy which is frustrating. I was working so hard trying to get the extra weight off and I was just making my back worse so I guess it's not worth it. I decided not to let it stop me though and even without the working out I am down 8lbs and tonight I was happy to realize I fit back into a pair of jeans that I have not been able to wear in awhile.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to make small changes that add up like drinking a giant glass of water before every meal or snack. I've cut back on pasta and try to limit my carbs after lunch and have really increased my veg intake and pretty much cut out diet soda. I also make sure I have protein at every meal. I find that I'm not snacking nearly as much and have cut way back on sweets too. I don't deny myself anything but just make better choices on the whole.
I'm also having that afternoon slump. I just went yesterday morning to have my blood work done to check for, among other things, anemia, thyroid and Vitamin D levels which is a big one according to my dr. I would urge you to go see your gp and get your blood work checked too!

ReplyDeleteGood for you Girl! :) I know how you feel, and it looks like there are quite a few of us feeling the same way. A couple of years ago, I decided I had had enough of feeling YUCK and got my butt in gear. It has taken me a while but I have lost the weight I wanted, but now I need to continue to maintain. I have a hard time with a "diet", maybe it's the word! I worked on portion control and cut back on my sweets(oh, do I love sweets) and exercise (i even started running). I still have goodies and things I like, because what's living if you aren't enjoying what you love, but I am careful not to over do it and am eating healthier.
