country living fair & surgery

i feel like this is the third update in the now trilogy of madison's broken nose.

after seeing the doctor tuesday, we were referred to an ENT yesterday.
the doctor's office had lead us to believe they'd "snap" it back into place in the office.
well, first of all, there is no "snapping" back into place in the office. she'll actually being having surgery in the morning to put it back in place, under general anesthesia & all. goodness.

& yes you're right, we could opt against the surgery. i've heard stories of coaches popping broken noses into place etc. however, she's a young female with quite a crooked nose. if we opted to wait and see if it healed well on its own, she would probably continue to have the persistent headache she's had since the injury. also, waiting means waiting at least a year for the healing to finish. at that point, if it's still noticeably crooked and we desire to do surgery, they would need to re-break it, scrape all the new bone growth and then realign the nose. a much more involved surgery. and in the mean time, she would continue to have headaches & probably some sinus issues. etc.

she's a trooper though. no complaints from her. however i've been so impressed with her passion & ownership of her squad. when i told her she probably wouldn't feel well enough the day after surgery to go watch them compete ( in a very loud gym mind you , in a competition that lasts for hours), she was all "mom, that's my team. i have to be there to cheer them on". seriously that was the most upset she's been since the injury. well alrighty, no holding her back!

thank you to those of you who have been so super sweet & encouraging. while it's certainly no life threatening issue, ya'll are the best.

on another super fun note, the country living fair will be here this weekend. & by here, i mean around the corner from my home! i'm beyond excited! i plan to swing by friday afternoon after her surgery, hoping they won't be all sold out!

here are some of my images from last year with some images of a few of the things i purchased.

 jennifer's paintings are spectacular.
my personal favorites are her acrylics on linen

my sweet friends ashley & jerri won't be making the road trip this year :(

a few of the goodies i purchased~

these linens were created by french laundry.
debbie jones , the creator , & i had shops beside each other a lifetime ago.
her line is the current special over at one kings lane.
head on over & sign up.

if you get a chance to go, have a fabulous time!!

  2. I'm so sorry to hear that she is going to have to have surgery! I pray that she will be feeling up to going to the competition. We just went through surgery for a sports injury in April our son. He injured his knee while pitching at baseball camp. Because it was a school sponsored event, the school insurance paid for what our insurance did not cover. That was such a blessing considering everything cost about $6000. So, if you haven't already, be sure to check into it since her injury occurred during practice. Good luck!

  3. Good morning Paige...praying for that sweet girl. I think the surgery is a good idea, get it over with now instead of going thru it all again in a year!! Boys with a crooked nose is a battle scar (insert some manly grunt), but with our beautiful girls...not so much!!
I have "Country Living Fair" marked on the calendar on my desk at school...I dont know if I'll make it, but I cant wait to see what goodies you find!!!
Have a great weekend!! My daughters best friend is a comp cheerleader, Im sure they've been at the same competitions as your girls this year...was thinking of going to cheer her on this weekend, so if some stranger calls you out, it's just me :0)

  4. I want to go on of these days! You are so much better off doing surgery now! I had surgery as an adult for a broken nose I didn't know about! She'll bounce back so much better and stay healthier. I had a ton of sinus infections until it was fixed. You are doing the right thing!!

  9. Prayers for Madison - you've had your share of breaks and sprains this year! My friends and I are going on Saturday - hopefully it won't be a mad-house and we can enjoy it. Last year we went on Sunday and it was quite nice. Have fun, Paige!

  12. so sorry to hear that your girl's nose is broken...but you are doing the right thing to have the surgery and fix it now....

I broke my tailbone when I was a little girl, and we let it heal on it's own....it didn't heal correctly, and I've had issues ever since. Right after I had Luke, a doctor went in and re-broke it hoping to give me some relief.....12 years later, I still have issues.

Tailbones and noses are different, I know, but you won't be sorry for taking care of it now.

    BUMMER for her.

  25. Oh Paige .. again, I am so sorry about Madison's broken nose and surgery. As a mom of 3 very athletic boys, I have have more than my share of injuries and surgeries. When Connor had ACL and meniscus surgery (out of state in Alabama, non the less) .. he insisted on being at his team's regional lacrosse game 2 days after surgery. Passion and commitment for his team :)

Big prayers going out to you.

Oh .. and the fair .... wow!!

  31. Well,it's Saturday and I hope and pray that everything with Madison went well! I don't blame you for doing the surgery. She is a beautiful young woman and I am sure she wouldn't want to have a crooked nose for the rest of her life or have to go thru surgery later on! So, I hope and pray that it went well; I certainly will be thinking about you!

Country Living Fair....how fun; I can't wait to see what you have found this year! I love the pictures from last year. There is never anything so wonderful around here like that! I would be so excited if there were and probably very broke(ha)!

    Take care!

  32. Wish we could've come to see you again the year for CLF, BUT we will do it again! You are doing right thing with the nose, this coming from mother who's son talked her into waiting and then ENT told me what a "horrible" mother I was! Now he has terrible sinus issues, a nose that "goes around the corner", and will likely need extensive surgery to correct!
