i hope you can hear that in surround sound with all the southern drawl i can muster up.
emphasis on the "my" of course.
i absolutely loved everyone's feedback & encouragement
from the previous post!
ya'll are awesome!!!
from the previous post!
ya'll are awesome!!!
it's so hard to be clear in texts or comments & emails.
it's hard to hear the voice behind what is said.
blog posts are certainly no different.
i was not at all angry with the question that was posed.
i thought she honestly ( & she did indeed come on back by & tell me the same) was curious how we balance raising teenagers who go to public school ( one of the largest in the state) & watch things like the bachelor ( gag me), gossip girl & the kardashians (on occasion)
but also love jesus.
it can be done. it really can.
since i primarily write about our life
it's not unusual to get questions about how we handle different situations
& i will gladly answer what i can.
in fact, if you'd like to ask any questions you can send them
& i'll try to incorporate them into a few blog posts.
it's a brave move to put yourself out there & share beliefs and convictions.
& also not get anybody too fired up.
i can count the times on one hand (& still have a finger of two left over) that someone has left me a rude comment.
i'm not sure how i've danced below the radar but thankfully i have.
anyway...that's enough of that for now. but i LOVED all the feedback. seriously!
for months i've thought about our schedule between march 2 & march 10th
& how things would all fall in to place.
dan & i are heading to my favorite place at o'dark thirty saturday morning.
last year was super blustery & cold but with the mild winter we've had, i'm hoping it will be gorgeous
for the Seaside half marathon.
this will definitely be my half marathon swan song.
i love running
but i've decided i do not love running for 2+ hours.
plus, i am convinced that my thighs & calves are completely jacked up now
due to all the distance running.
it happened last year too. i was certain that all that training i would drop a jean size & therefore treat myself to some post race designer flats.
well, i didn't. i'll be darned if those last few weeks i got bigger.
what the heck.
so the other day i'm standing there in my little ugg wannabe slippers & i tell one of the girls ( whose name shall not be mentioned) that i thought my calves were bigger
to which she replied "yeah, they do look weird".
fantastic
madison turns 17 tomorrow!!
she whipped up these dr. seuss inspired cupcakes a few days ago,
i thought you'd enjoy~
ps. i bought the designer flats this year anyway.
so take that.

Love those cupcakes. I pinned some like those last week...Too Cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the honesty -- my girl told me the other day that my hair looked worse than her Amer Girl doll's -- and that doll has really bad messy hair! True though!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fabulous run!
Happy B-day to your sweet girl! Love those cupcakes!

i'm heading out tomorrow morning with a group of girls for seaside. my first race ever. (hopefully i'll bump into you!)and your comment about losing weight cracked me up...because the SAME THING happened to me!! it's depressing to be running THAT MUCH and not loose weight! oh well! i'm just ready for my vera bag... ;)
ReplyDeleteGOOD LUCK on your race!!!! Have fun at Seaside and choose yourself a super cute Vera bag. Happy happy day to Miss Madison. Her cupcakes are beautiful. Have a super great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for putting yourself out there....I can only imagine how hard it is for you. I am a mom of 2 boys and 1 girl and I know how hard it is to raise children that love the Lord so much but see such contrary behavior in the world. It is a battle against the Evil One each day. You lovingly allow us to peek into your world and for that I am amazed and thankful!! I get to hear your perspective and I love all your scripture. And as Christians, we need to share God's words to keep each other strong and in the fight against the un-Godly in our world today. It is a daily battle for us and our children. Let's keep them strong by feeding them the good food of God!! With much love, I humbly than you Paige. Deb Hearn from Kokomo, Indiana
ReplyDeletePLEASE tell me Madison is planning to open her own bakery!
ReplyDeletePaige! So I've known you've been training for a half...but somehow I missed that it was the seaside half! I'm going to be down there this weekend...not running, but will be cheering on some friends. Maybe, just maybe...I'll see you too!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Madison. I love her joy for cooking/baking :) I'm so excited for you and your race this weekend. What a beautiful area! Can't wait to hear all about it :)
ReplyDeleteMadison is so talented....my son is so into Dr Seuss right now, he would love these!! Happy Birthday to you beautiful girl :)
ReplyDeleteI thought you handled your last post beautifully. XXXX
Good luck to you, my friend! I hope you and Dan enjoy yourselves.
ReplyDeleteDaughters do tell the truth, don't they? ;-) eeeesh!

ReplyDeleteYou always put a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteYou're gonna do great in Seaside.
Happy Birthday to Madison.
Love the cupcakes.
I think that about covers it. Enjoy your windshield time with your sweetie on the way down and back.
You are too cute for words. Love the cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine you mad at someone.
ReplyDeleteLove the cupcakes and Happ Birthday Madison.
Thanks for keeping it real.
Although I am a mother myself, I am 27 and still remember peaking into the world while my parent's lovingly gave me boundaries and let me figure things out too. They modeled Christ all the time and sheltered me while still letting me discover what the world looked like too. The result was plenty of mistakes on my part, but I left home knowing what the world had to offer and deciding I wanted Jesus more than that. Sounds like you're giving this same upbringing to your girls. You won't regret it! Blessings my Noonday sister :)
ReplyDeleteHi sweet Paige,
ReplyDeleteI love this post - I completely agree with you on raising girls - I am of the mind that a bit of exposure to pop culture 'stuff' is ok when we can discuss it in our home and the context of what we believe. I think hiding it from them almost makes them more interested - I like that I can 'label' inappropriate behavior and have awesome discussions with my 13 year old! After all, I am her first role model! At some point you have to trust YOUR parenting and YOUR home will rise above it all and the guilty pleasures of pop culture tv will be strictly entertainment - as it is intended!
Honey, don't even talk to me about thighs......I have to be in a swimsuit next to our skinny Hawiian friend in less than a month!!! And if running makes our thighs bigger, remember it makes our hearts stronger!!! Isn't that more important!
Enjoy the journey of your swan song!
xo~Jill
I'm reluctant to ask my daughter much about my looks - they are brutally honest. I have a largest calves in the world I think-much larger than I think they should be for my size! :) I'll remember not to ask anyone about that...
ReplyDeleteCute cupcakes! Hope Madison has a great day!
Have a great marathon. What a wonderful place to be able to run.

ReplyDeleteSo THAT'S why my calves have gotten bigger....:)!!! When my daughter was a young teen we were in a dressing room together. She said "Mom, is THAT what I am going to look like in a few years?".....in a disgusted tone. Yep, daughter, yep!
ReplyDeleteGood luck at Seaside! And, a happy birthday to your Madison!
Oh those cupcakes are too cute!! I need to make some tomorrow. Have a wonderful time tomorrow and Happy B-Day to your girl =)
ReplyDeleteCyn
There's no greater joy for a father than to know that his children (and grandchildren) all love and walk with God. Many can talk the talk. Few can walk it with grace and courage. I've watched you do just that, walk it out in real life, in real time. I want you to know that your dad has always been and continues to be so incredibly proud of you!
ReplyDeleteFUN!!! Tomorrow's my b-day too...I LOVE the Dr. Seuss cupcakes...very fitting for our birthday! :-) Happy Birthday Miss Madison...I hope you have a day that's as lovely as you are!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the run...have a blast with Dan the man!
So...I've taken up running...working towards my first 5k...good to know that I shouldn't expect weight loss...haha!
Tory Burch Revas?
ReplyDeleteYou will rock your race! I'd love to run with you one day. Maybe I'll just "stalk" / run behind you in Sea Side next year!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Madison and the cupcakes look so professional..I love the swedish fish on the blue icing..Congrats on the flats purchase too..Have a great week and Good Luck Saturday..
ReplyDeleteginormous calf sisters unite!
ReplyDeletemy sister had the audacity to point out to me (under the guise of concern for my well-being) that not only are my calves large but they are also quite asymmetric. at which point I kicked her with my giant calf-leg and told her not to give me any more issues to worry about. okay, i didn't kick her but IF I would've, it woulda hurt like the dickens.
Why do think I wear boots sister-friend?
Rock that race baby:)
xoxo,
edie
All these people running!! I'm so excited! I got in last night, and have been acclimating myself to the humidity!! Feels so good to be home!! Hope to run into you or some other runners!!! and speaking of calves... I can't even wear boots because I can't get the zipped - i have yet to delve into the world of extended calf sizes...
ReplyDeletei adore you.
ReplyDeletemy calves got bigger when I trained for my half.
what's that about????
I've got one for ya.....
lydia walked in while I was dressing the other day and grabbed my very.very.very flabby belly and said,
"THIS is just weird."
out of the mouths of babes.
Oh, the Seaside half-marathon! Just got home from our visit down there, and we commented about how fun that would be. Of course, that would mean I could run! I'll keep dreaming. Good for you. Seaside is one of our favorite places too. Can't wait to meet you at The Pearl!
ReplyDeletehaha paige that's really funny about your calves and your daughter seconding that motion. i too have large calves and I swear I've been working out and trying to lose weight so I can fit them babies into the Hunter boots I want so badly. And of course, I think I've actually gained weight from cutting out cheese and sweets. So annoying!! Those stupid Hunter boots are so unfair. The tall ones almost fit just aren't loose at the top you know? And the Huntress for the "real woman" with large calves just doesn't look right either. Anywho Paige, sorry to drag out this comment. I love this blog and your honesty. Also loved the post on your girls and raising them. I was pretty sheltered as a child (private school, same church, strict parents, no outside friends or family) until I went to Liberty University for college. And let me tell you it was an absolute culture shock for me. I couldn't believe I was at a Christian school and all of my roommates had slept with their boyfriends. I struggled for an entire year. I just wasn't prepared for the real world. Okay I'm done now Paige. You're awesome though!

ReplyDeleteHave a great run Paige, your time does not matter - just the fact that you are out there is awesome.
ReplyDeleteHey Paige - I am new to your blog {my sister goes to your church} - I'll be at the race tomorrow - only running 5k. Good luck - I'll be thinking of you:)
ReplyDelete-Betsy
I have ginormous calves too. We call them "cankles" because it just seems to be huge all the way down and then there's my foot. And finding boots are a real pain. Oh well...rock those flats!
