rebecca contacted me over 6months ago
to try to schedule a generation session.
her children, her mom & her precious grandmother, miss ruby.
miss ruby has been sick & in and out of the hospital
so getting a date on the calender was tricky.
we had already rescheduled due to yucky weather.
that sunday i was so hopeful that our rare springlike weather in january
would hold on a little bit longer...even if for just an afternoon for this priceless session.
i was to come to miss ruby's home.
we would take as many as she felt like, needing to put back on her oxygen canula
several times.
bless her, if she wasn't the cutest great-grandmother
& just LIT up when she smiled.
the above image is in my top 10 personal favorite images.
how many of us wish our children had a glorious snapshot with one of the great grandparents!!
the next day rebecca let me know that miss ruby had taken a fall
& was in the hospital.
later that week she would develop pneumonia.
i think miss ruby is still in the hospital.
rebecca thank you for the privilege of photographing your family
& for allowing me to meet the very special miss ruby.
i asked rebecca if i could share a little bit about her grandmother...
in her words...
"Her name is Ruby Opal, and she's everything That a Grandma should be.
There
wasn't anything she couldn't bake, and she made holidays so special for all of
us. She never rested always up doing something. She raised 4 children, and like
I said, has 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who adore her!
Her
health has been getting a lot worse lately, which is why these pictures are so
important to me. But even with her health the way it is, she always tries to put
everyone else first. The last time she was in the hospital, she was more worried
about whether I had eaten yet and wanted me to have her dinner.
On Saturdays I take her grocery shopping if she's up to it, and we always stop for a donut.
She truly means the world to me!"

ReplyDeleteSo cute.
ReplyDeleteMy Grandmother is one of my best friends. :)
At first I thought that was Madison
kissing the Gramma on the check in
the first picture.
The pictures are priceless. Ruby has the greatest smile. They will always treasure these pictures.
ReplyDeleteI almost had a Ruby......but Ruby turned out to be a grandson. It would have been pretty funny as our other grandson was Max.
You are a great photographer. You can tell that your subjects are relaxed around you.
some of the best photos ever! How many of us wish we had photos like that - of mulit-generations. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Grandparents always hold such a special place in our worlds and it is so neat that they will forever have those pictures thanks to you.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite photos you've taken. How special to be a part of that. I have a picture of me kissing my grandmother a few months before she passed away at
ReplyDelete98. It is so precious to me as I know these are to this lovely family.
This makes me miss my grammie so much! She has demensia and was placed into a home where they can care for her in the Fall. Before this past confusing year or so, she was the most fun grammie and so like this Miss Ruby. Always fixing people (and dogs) a sandwich. I wish I had a few photos like this, of my grammie. These ones of Miss Ruby are going to be a major treasure! Thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeletethis brought tears to my eyes - such sweetness - i had the privilege of knowing my great grandma; she past away when i was 15 - oh how i wish i had photos of us! i need to make sure and do this with my kids and my mom and aunt!

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post. She sounds a lot like my great grandma who raised me. The women from that generation really know how to express their sacrificial love for their kiddos. What a huge blessing! This has inspired me to snap some photos of my great grandma with all of her great grand kids...she would LOVE that!!!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are just priceless. What a gift you were able to provide for them. I had the joy to know my great-grandmother (and have her bake for me and love on me!) and my children were blessed to meet her as well. My children were also able to know my grandmother and I have pictures framed of them together...something I will cherish.
ReplyDeleteOh these pictures are awesome and what a blessing to have captured such priceless photos of them.I agree Miss Ruby has a wonderful smile.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are so cute, I just love her smile; it makes me smile!

My favorite is the hands- they tell a story in themselves.
ReplyDeleteMiss Ruby is beautiful! There is just something about her eyes. I find that looking into her gorgeous face makes me want to not fear getting older but to embrace it for the beautiful thing it is.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Paige, their feelings for each other shine from these photos X
