an embarassingly simple DIY jewelry board & my connection with beth moore

good morning everybody

i'll be honest, the last couple days i've been glued to my computer watching as much of the Passion 2012 live stream as possible.
for those of you who've asked, i think each session expires after 24 hours...however, you can purchase the all access pass & have all of it available to you as they release them over the next few weeks/months. i highly recommend that!
i've bascially blown up my facebook & twitter accounts about #passion2012

i promise to talk about something else but i have a quick story to tell you.

so, tuesday morning i ran over to the mall for a quickie exchange.  since passion doesn't tell you the schedule of speakers, i was completely unaware that beth moore was speaking live at around 11:00.
i was in anthropologie at 11:00 looking at everything, including jewelry.
i picked up a gorgeous pair of chandelier earrings, however since i have an empty post-christmas bank account, i laid them back down.
so, i come home later & watch beth moore on the live stream. low & behold, THE beth moore had on the earrings ya'll!!

couldn't find the exact color that "we" have/covet on line, but this is the pair in blue.
i'd  bet the farm these were what she was wearing.
i shoulda screenshot the image & zoomed in
like any good stalker would have....sigh.
surely ya'll would be as excited about matching jewelry style with a
veritable star right?
it's like we're twins :)

so at the exact time i was picking up a gorgeous pair of anthro earrings, beth was speaking at passion...down the street.
isn't that amazing? sorta like a cosmic sign that we're kindred spirits or something....or that we just have the same taste in earrings. i prefer to see it as a kindred spirit sign!
~~

ok
i have a pretty good size inventory of jewelry
as that's my favorite accessory.
i needed to do something to make storage a little more efficient.
in fact, this little DIY project is so darn simple
that i'm embarrased to share
& it surely doesn't require step by step images
but the basics are as follows:

i used a 24x36 cork/message board
covered it with linen but burlap would be great too
headed over to lowe's & picked up upholstery tacks
measured & nailed them around the border.
while i was at lowe's i also grabbed some nickel plated style push pins
about 75 of those.
& went to town hanging my favorite necklaces.
i wanted this to be both functional & artsy pretty.

i keep my larger chunky necklaces on another display
but for the majority of them, i hung them on my board.

savannah is wanting to make a larger board
using vintage door knobs, knockers & drawer pulls
so i'm on the look out for those.
but for now, here you go...

my entire cost was less than $30
or you could swing by ballards
& pick up one for upwards of $219

okie doke, back to the live stream...today's the final day!
 ~~~
ps. many of my monogrammed pieces are John Wind
which you can find here
  4. ok Paige, if all that you say is true, then you and I are kindred spirits as well...I got the beautiful John Wind initial necklace (with the cotton ball) for Christmas...and have so many similar necklaces to the ones on your awesome new board!!! (Unfortunately, mine are in snack size baggies sorted in my sweater chest...am SO making one of your boards!!)
  6. I LOVE the jewelry board! I could use this so bad. My jewelry sits thrown across my dresser, or thrown in a drawer. sigh...what a mess. But this is a fantastic idea!! I may have to get my creative little Annalee to help me make one. Your's is beautiful!
    P.S. I'm a Beth Moore lover too. And love those earrings!
  7. Absolutely love it. It is so hard to find a jewelry box that can hold all that most of us have accumulated. I think I may have to make 3 of those. Thank you so much for the idea and the beautiful pictures. Love your blog.
  9. LOVE your board!!!!! And you have some amazing pieces that I am admiring!!! We also have a few of the same pieces:)
    When we lived in VA and I wore my hair similar to Beth Moore, several people told me I reminded them/looked like a younger version of her. She does free Bible studies here and I have been to one a few years ago. They are enormous!!! She is SO dynamic in person.
  10. Hardly embarassing--this looks great!! Just a quick question--I'm loving that chunky, peachy, crystal bracelet that you can see best in the 6th picture down of the boards...willing to share where you snagged such a great piece?:)
  11. I hope you went back and picked up those earrings!
    Love the jewelry board, it looks so pretty with your necklace collection on it. Where did you find a corkboard that size though? I've been searching for two large ones for another project and haven't had any luck. I might just need 3 now ;)
  13. 1) it's totally a SIGN... Beth and you should be BFF. (And please invite me when you go for coffee.)
    2) The board is gorgeous and you should make and sell a bunch on ETSY. I need one badly, as all of my jewelry is just one tangle of chaos and the Lord is using it in my life to teach me patience as I daily unravel three necklaces to wear one. (True story.)
    3) You have really good taste in jewelry.
  14. Oh my word. I cannot even believe how much jewelery you have. You would just laugh your head off if you saw my collection. I love how you displayed it and that you did it and since you did it in such a budge friendly way I think you can justify going back for those earrings.
  15. I'm so behind on blogging and the internet that I missed all of your Passion talk and I'm a little sad. Sounds AMAZING! I loved reading the story about "Marie" and Savannah's sweet spirit. Love, LOVE the Bible shot (I adore those). And you and Beth are TOTALLY twins...what a fun story.
  17. You're so crafty! If I only had time for crafts! Love that peachy crystal bracelet too...and love me some anthropologie. So dangerous though. My husband doesn't understand that store...I'm like what's there not to understand. It's everything women love in one store.
    Love what they did at Passion today too...thanks for posting that CNN story. I'm going to repost that tomorrow.
    And thanks for sharing that you didn't buy the earrings. We're in that new year "we must save this year" crunch, too, and I was encouraged by your restraint.
