the six weeks or so between february 14th & april 1st,
we celebrate 4 out of 6 of our birthdays,
valentines, april fools day and our anniversary.
we've also turned birthday celebrations into a 3-4 day gig.
do ya'll do the same?
friday night, caroline wanted everyone, "sissies and trevor too", to head intown and eat at willy's on caroline street. we are a suburban family who basically spends our weekends intown. dan & i would move there in a heart beat!
we were headed out for desert later
& madison would be making an ice cream pie for her actual birthday,
so i just picked up a little mini-cake for her to blow out candles at dinner that evening.
we headed over to decatur to visit yogurt tap.
i practiced my evening photography on (yikes) manual setting
while dan drove forever trying to find a parking spot.
savannah demonstrated "the eighth grader" pose.
emily, the token eighth grader, appreciated big sis's humor.
one of the sweetest things is when my girls make birthday cards for each other. precious.
i think more than one of my daughters has a crush on trevor,
who showed up later in the weekend with some tennessee garb for his fellow UT fan.
for her birthday dinner she requested edie's spicy tomato soup.
i ordered sourdough breadbowls from publix
drizzled with evoo & sea salt and baked them to make the already fresh bread nice & crusty
chopped some fresh basil
add some crumbled blue cheese & voila
the weather has been glorious
so we've been enjoying dining al fresco
the end.
what a fun evening! i'm envious of your warm weather~ we're doing a birthday celebration this weekend~ would you mind sending some of your georgia warmth our way?

Totally relate to those 3-4 day birthday celebrations!! How does that happen?? Our "Birthday Season" is in the fall. Don't you just love those special outings with the WHOLE family?! Your photography is amazing and that tomato soup looks so yummy!!
ReplyDeletei love that you make birthdays so special.
ReplyDeletethe pose that dantheman is in w/Caroline reminds me so much of my dad. i can't tell you how many pics i have with him in that very stance. now ... i have ones of him and annie like that. it's like immediately he goes down on one knee when it's picture time!
also, the the cupcake earrings are the EXACT earrings that annie lou wore this weekend for her bday celebration(s).
love you girl.
xo
Looks like you all had such a fun time. Hope your daughter had a great birthday! We celebrate weeks on end for birthdays, why not, it took 9 months so a few weeks of celebrating is well deserved. That soup looks yummy too.
ReplyDeletePaige,
ReplyDeleteI love that the girls don't fight posing. Alexandra wants me to be "stealth" in my photography... thinks she should not have to pose... ugh... never ending battle. And Graham.... heaven help me on that one!!! Love them!!! But they don't make my "photo shoots" easy!
What a great evening out! So so cute of her on Caroline Street. I love that her big sis was taking care of the birthday candles. Your photos tell the story of their love for each other. Beautiful Family!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful! That cookbook looks great...I will have to check it out. My husband is from the South and I wish I was:).

Caroline is such a CUTIE!!!
Love these pictures. What a precious birthday for Caroline! I recently checked both of those cookbooks out from the library, Mary Mac's Tearoom and Screen Doors and Sweet Tea. Both are fabulous. I too would love to live intown. Love Decatur, having lived in the city for most of my life, suburban life is still an adjustment. I miss being able to walk everywhere.
